This is how you measure:

Measure over bare skin or thin underwear.
The easiest way to measure is with a tape measure. Make sure the tape measure is straight. It is easier to measure if you have another person with you or if you measure in front of a mirror.
If your measurements fall between the two measurements on the measurement chart, we recommend taking a smaller size as the products are strethcy.
Remember to check the measurements on the correct size chart, especially for unisex products.

Tips for choosing your size:

The measurements on the size chart are body measurements, which you can compare to find the right size.
Our products are made to Finnish measurements, which means that they are generally a little looser than e.g. European sizes. If you are deciding between two sizes, a smaller size is probably sufficient if you prefer a more fitted look.
For unisex products, we recommend that women choose one size smaller than their normal size. Also check the measurements on the size chart!
Silk wool is more elastic than wool or silk, so keep this in mind, especially when selecting adult silk wool garments.
The knit of our wool products will slightly shrink when first washed. This is taken into account in the sizing, which is slightly loose before the first wash.

Luxurious and smooth silk balaclava for adults

Made of 100% undyed organic silk, this balaclava brings gentle warmth for cheeks, chin and neck. Balaclava fits snugly under a hat, cap or helmet. The opening around the face has a reinforced binding. Flat and flexible seams.

Also available for babies and children.

Our certified organic silk it the most luxurious underwear material available. Due to a protein structure similar to human skin, silk is especially well-suited for anyone with allergies or sensitive skin. Pure silk keeps you cool when hot and warm when cold. It also protects sensitive skin from the roughness of outerwear.

Wash and care instructions

No washing is required before first use
Long-term storage: wash first and store in a sealed plastic bag, e.g. in the product's original package
Silk likes airing but a dirty garment shouldn’t be left unwashed for a long time
Hand wash in lukewarm water or machine wash at 30°C hand wash program and a biodegradable washing detergent
We recommend the Sonett wool and silk washing liquid for washing and Sonett gall soap for stain removal
Reshape the garment immediately after washing
Do not dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source

Our certified organic silk comes from a silk farm in Sichuan province, central China
The silk we use is long continuous filament silk, which is of a much higher quality than factory-produced silk

All our products are made with 100% renewable energy. We use renewable geothermal energy to heat our production, storage and shop premises.

very useful and great cut

the silk balaclava is lightweight yet solid, and the cut with the extended collar covers the collar area so giving the protection I need.
If anything the collar could go slightly further down at the back as it does ride up a bit, but this is the BEST balaclava cut I have found yet and the silk is perfect for the summer, and a great under-layer for winter as well.
The product is of a higher quality in terms of fabric and construction than other silk products that I have bought from other retailers, so well done RUSKOVILLA.

We are proud to be the first to introduce certified organic silk clothing to the Nordic market. The silk we use comes from an organic silk farm in Sichuan province in central China. The silk is produced on the mountain slopes according to millennia-old traditions, including a diverse farming culture and artisanal methods.

The light and breathable protein fibre of silk has a texture similar to human skin, making it very comfortable and discreet to wear. Its smooth texture makes it ideal for people with allergies and sensitive skin that cannot tolerate other materials. Silk is ideal for summer but is also suitable for year-round use, as it feels wonderfully cool in hot weather and warm in cold.

As we open the door and step inside the lower floor of the Old Dairy, the room is filled with a soft steady whir, paced by a faster buzz, click and then another buzz. Some twenty seamstresses are working. This is where the heart of Ruskovilla is.

To guarantee high quality, we have never wanted to outsource our production, but have made it transparent. Our products are designed and manufactured in Finland with over 40 years of experience. As a sign of this, our products have been awarded the Finnish Key Flag label.
