Silk care guide

How to take care of Ruskovilla's silk products

Below we provide general washing and care instructions for our silk products. Always check the washing instructions on the size label and the instructions that come with the product to ensure that you take care of your garment in the best way.

Our certified organic silk comes from the mountains of central China. This long-fiber filament silk is the most luxurious material for undergarments, closely resembling the smooth structure of skin and hair. Despite its delicate reputation, it is a durable fiber that, with proper care, can withstand regular use.

Our products are free from harmful finishing agents, so there's no need to wash them before their first use.

Air often

Regularly airing silk garments is essential. Avoid direct sunlight, rain and heat sources. Do not leave soiled silk garments unwashed for long periods – if a garment has been in continuous use or has become dirty, it's time to wash it. Try to avoid direct contact of silk with cosmetics such as deodorant and perfume whenever possible.

Washing instructions for silk

Wash silk garments by hand or in a washing machine on a 30°C hand-wash or silk-wash cycle with a spin speed of 600–800 rpm. We recommend using Sonett's gentle wool and silk detergent and Sonett's gall soap for stain removal. Avoid detergents containing bleaching agents or enzymes, as these can damage the delicate silk fibers.

Silk garments should not be tumble dried. After hand-washing, you can press out excess water by rolling the garment inside a thick terry towel. Do not wring the garment dry. Reshape the garment while it's still damp and dry it flat or on a smooth plastic hanger away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Silk smooths out easily, but if needed, you can iron the garment on the reverse side at the lowest temperature setting.

Silk care instructions

Silk clothing can be stored either on a hanger or folded. Silk keeps its properties best in a cool, dry and airy place. For long-term storage, we recommend the original airtight packaging bag. The silk garment should be clean and completely dry before being placed in the bag.

Sometimes silk garments may attract clothes pests, which can be controlled naturally, for example with moth traps or red cedar rings, but the oily red cedar must not come into direct contact with silk.
