Wool fleece care guide

How to take care of Ruskovilla's wool fleece products

Wool fleece is 100% merino wool knit, brushed on both sides for a down-soft feel. Wool fleece is made of certified organic, mulesing-free merino wool from Argentina and Uruguay.

Air out frequently

Naturally antibacterial wool repels dirt, odours and moisture. To clean wool fleece, airing is usually all that's needed. A little humidity, such as in the bathroom after a shower or in damp air from the rain, is good for wool. Avoid airing in direct sunlight or near a radiator. Loose stains can be removed with a clothes brush and small stains should be removed by hand as soon as possible.

Wash only when needed

When it is necessary to wash a wool fleece garment or accessory, we recommend machine washing at 30°C using the hand wash or wool wash cycle, with a spin speed of max 800 rpm. Wool fleece garments should be reshaped while damp and dried flat, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Wool fleece is not suitable for tumble drying.

We recommend washing with an ecological and soothing detergent. Sonetti wool and silk detergent and for stain removal Sonett gall soap. Do not use synthetic wool detergents with bleach or enzymes, as they will soak the wool fat and brittle the wool fibre.

Store in a protected place

Our products are not treated with moth repellents that are harmful to humans and nature. If your wool fleece garments are not in daily use, we recommend storing them in a tightly sealed plastic bag or box. Our range also includes red cedar rings and moth traps, which are a safe and natural way to protect textiles.

Look after your favourite clothes

Wool fleece may compress or flatten slightly during washing and use. The fabric can be brushed with an appropriate garment brush to soften the surface.

It is typical for natural fibers to thin out with regular wear. An oval-shaped, finished fleece patch is perfect for reinforcing areas like worn elbows, or even for new fleece jackets to extend their lifespan. The patch can also be used on the knees of fleece trousers or anywhere that needs mending. The patches come with matching thread used to finish the edges, allowing you to attach them as discreetly and neatly as possible.
