Knitted fabrics made from natural fibres are flexible and due to the properties of the material, product sizes may vary slightly. For this reason, we do not provide measurements of finished products, but size selection is based on your own body measurements.

This is how you measure:

  • Measure over bare skin or thin underwear.
  • The easiest way to measure is with a tape measure. Make sure the tape measure is straight. It is easier to measure if you have another person with you or if you measure in front of a mirror.
  • If your measurements fall between the two measurements on the measurement chart, we recommend taking a smaller size as the products are strethcy.
  • Remember to check the measurements on the correct size chart, especially for unisex products.

Tips for choosing your size:

  • The measurements on the size chart are body measurements, which you can compare to find the right size. 
  • Our products are made to Finnish measurements, which means that they are generally a little looser than e.g. European sizes. If you are deciding between two sizes, a smaller size is probably sufficient if you prefer a more fitted look.
  • For unisex products, we recommend that women choose one size smaller than their normal size. Also check the measurements on the size chart!
  • Silk wool is more elastic than wool or silk, so keep this in mind, especially when selecting adult silk wool garments.

  • The knit of our wool products will slightly shrink when first washed. This is taken into account in the sizing, which is slightly loose before the first wash.

Warm mittens are made from 100% organic merino wool. The mitten part is made of a double-layer smooth interlock knit. The cuff is made of sturdy rib knit, which keeps the mitten in place and makes it easier to put on outer layer. These mittens are perfect to wear on their own, or to add extra warmth under other gloves or mittens. 

Pure wool keeps you warm even when wet. It neutralises odours and does not need to be washed often. Pure wool is also a fire-safe material.

Handmade in Artjärvi, Finland. No need to wash before use.

Wool - warmth developed by sheep

Sheep have taken care of the product development for us. For thousands of years, they have lived in widely varying climates and weather conditions, and we can benefit from the same properties that keep them warm in the cold and comfortable in the heat. Wool’s natural crimp traps air between the fibres, providing excellent insulation.

Step inside our factory in Artjärvi and you’ll hear the steady hum of sewing machines, broken by the occasional whirr and click. Around twenty skilled makers are at work here every day. This is the heart of Ruskovilla.

Nearly all our clothing and accessories are made in our own factory in Artjärvi, Finland. Here, skills built up over decades are passed from one pair of hands to the next: our products are cut, sewn, finished, inspected and packed under the same roof. Products made in Finland can be recognised by the Key Flag Symbol.
