Measurement guide for brown wool baby clothes

This is how you measure:

Measure over bare skin or thin underwear.
The easiest way to measure is with a tape measure. Make sure the tape measure is straight.
If the measurements fall between the two measurements on the measurement chart, we recommend taking a smaller size as the products are strethcy.

Tips for choosing your size:

The measurements on the size chart are body measurements, which you can compare to find the right size.
Our products are made to Finnish measurements, which means that they are generally a little looser than e.g. European sizes. If you are deciding between two sizes, a smaller size is probably sufficient if you prefer a more fitted look.
Silk wool is more elastic than wool or silk, so keep this in mind, especially when selecting adult silk wool garments.
The knit of our wool products will slightly shrink when first washed. This is taken into account in the sizing, which is slightly loose before the first wash.

Made from 30% natural silk and 70% merino wool, certified organic silk wool combines the best of both materials: the smoothness of silk and the warmth of wool. The material is flexible and breathable, and provides the extra warmth needed when combined with other garments.

The garments are handmade in Artjärvi, Finland. No need to wash before use.

Wash and care instructions

No washing is required before first use
Airing keeps silk wool fresh for longer and extends the washing cycle
Our silk owool products are not treated with a moth repellent, so remember to protect the garments from moths and beetles. When not in constant use, store silk wool products in a sealed plastic bag, e.g. in the product's original package
Wash by hand in lukewarm water or machine wash at 30°C hand or wool wash program using a biodegradable wool washing detergent
We recommend the Sonett wool and silk washing liquid for washing and Sonett gall soap for stain removal
Reshape the garment immediately after washing
Do not dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source

Pure natural fibers are flexible and do not cause sweating even in hot weather
Both materials keep you cool in hot and warm in cold, and absorb moisture without feeling wet
Silk wool is suitable for year-round use and can also be worn at night
Due to its thin structure, the material is suitable for daily activities but cannot withstand heavy abrasion or sweating from intense exercise without felting.

Silk wool is knitted and finished with soap wash in Finland
The garments are sewn and packed by hand by Ruskovilla's own professionals in Artjärvi, Finland
The product is not finished with protective substances harmful to humans and nature
Surplus silk wool swatches are part of our ecological clothing production: light-coloured wool is carded into bedding fillings, while colourful wool is used for crafts supplies and for industrial purposes, such as oil absorbing mats
All our products are made with 100% renewable energy. We use renewable geothermal energy for heating our production, warehouse and shop premises.

Silk wool – the best of silk and wool

Our certified organic silk wool combines 70% organic mulesing-free merino wool and 30% natural silk. Our long-fibre merino wool comes from Argentina and Uruguay and our smooth silk from China.

Silk wool combines the properties of two wonderful natural fibres: the smoothness of silk and the warmth of wool. Both materials balance temperature differences and absorb moisture without feeling wet. Silk wool is a breathable and smooth underwear material that, being thinner than merino wool, is ideal for cool-season underwear and suitable for year-round use if you tend to feel chilly.

Handmade in Artjärvi, Finland

As we open the door and step inside the lower floor of the Old Dairy, the room is filled with a soft steady whir, paced by a faster buzz, click and then another buzz. Some twenty seamstresses are working. This is where the heart of Ruskovilla is.

To guarantee high quality, we have never wanted to outsource our production, but have made it transparent. Our products are designed and manufactured in Finland with over 40 years of experience. As a sign of this, our products have been awarded the Finnish Key Flag label.
